Welcome to the website of the Meridian School of Grenada!

We are a private school located in Greystones, Belmont, St. George's, Grenada, working with students at the primary as well as the secondary level.

This website is intended to provide information about the school.  Pictures of recent events will also be posted in the albums, as well as dates for future events on the school's calendar.  There will also be a featured story where we will concentrate on a special item.  We are happy to share with you through this medium.

History of the Meridian School

The Meridian School was founded in September 1998 by Patricia White, a Christian Science practitioner living in Grenada for 30 years.  After observing that students of the Christian Science Sunday School were failing in their regular public schools, she decided to do something to help them.  Her idea was to establish a school based on Christian Science principles.  With three teachers and 14 students, The Meridian School of Grenada began its operations as an educational institution in this country.

The school has grown steadily since that time, expanding to accommodate 40 students by the end of the 2005 – ’06 school year.  This required the leasing of a nearby building to hold more classes.  More teachers were added to the staff to tutor at the primary and secondary levels.  On September 7, 2004, one day after the new school year started for the 2004 – ’05 school year, the main building was heavily damaged by the ferocious winds of hurricane Ivan.  But through divine Love, the institution was rebuilt with generous donations from many individuals and Christian Science sister schools such as The Principia (The United States) and Claremont Fan Court (England), among others.  We are very grateful for their assistance.

In July 2005, The Meridian School held its first ever graduation ceremony, saying goodbye to four students.  Every year since that time, the school has held graduation ceremonies to send off Grade 6 and Grade 8 students.

From September to December 2007, a project was undertaken to refurbish and expand the main school building so that all classes could be housed in one complex.  All classes started the new term in January 2008 on the same compound, most classes being in the new building and one class in the Loft of the adjoining building.

The Meridian School will celebrate its 10 year anniversary in September 2008.

Mission Statement of the Meridian School

To develop a well-rounded student - spiritually, morally, socially, academically and physically - to live in today's society and contribute to the nation's stability.

Primary Purpose of the Meridian School

To provide a loving, nuturing atmosphere in which the shy and reticent child will be encouraged to express God-given talents natural to each one of us.  At the same time the overly aggressive child will be taught respect and restraint, and the bright, eager student stimuated to excel.  All will express this intelligence to their highest understanding.
